Draft Scouting Report
Dylan Fairchild is a tall, scrappy guard who wins with effort, upper-body strength and a workmanlike approach. He generates impressive torque to control defenders and makes a conscious effort to play with lower pad level. His grip strength is a plus, and he typically lands his hands first, though his placement can be inconsistent, leading to occasional holding outside the shoulder pads. While he can be out-leveraged in the run game at times, he holds up well in pass protection, where his anchor is solid despite taking a moment to fully sit into it.
Athletically, Fairchild isn’t a standout but has functional movement skills that meet the baseline for combo blocks. He mirrors well, relying more on hustle than pure agility, and moves laterally better than expected. However, his pulling ability can appear a bit clunky. Despite some stiffness, he brings a nasty demeanor that offensive line coaches will love. His large frame has room for added weight, and while he may not be the smoothest or most balanced athlete, his gritty, overachieving style allows him to consistently hold his own.
