Draft Scouting Report

Rating: 76.13 (Reserve/backup)
Pro Comparison: Michael Hall Jr.
Summary

Tonka Hemingway has upside as a rotational type player, likely inside. He’s mostly a regular down-and-distance player who has some versatility to play both on the edge and inside best case. It’ll likely be an uphill battle for him to stick around very long unless he can elevate his pass-rushing potential.

About
  • Career: Tied school record for games played (61)
  • Career: 19 quarterback horries, 17.5 tackles for loss, 11 passes defensed,9.5 sacks and six fumble recoveries
Strengths
  • Physical at the point in the run game with heavy hands and the ability to dominate his gap despite not having exceptional size
  • Effective lateral rusher beating guards stunting ½ a man with some quickness at times.
  • Very experienced player with more than 2,000 reps against excellent competition
Weaknesses
  • Lacks as a pass rusher, which will limit his ability to stay on the field on all three downs. Possibly the versatility to kick out to the edge as he did early in his career at South Carolina.
  • Does not possess violent hands or exceptional anchor in the run game to hold the point consistently and create stalemates vs. double teams
  • Film does not possess anything elite that shows you he has exceptional NFL traits
Combine Data
  • Vertical jump: 32 inches
  • 20-yard shuttle run: 4.48 seconds
  • Broad jump: 9 feet, 4 inches
  • 3-cone drill: 7.36 seconds
