Giovanni Ricci TE | NE
Giovanni Ricci: Parts ways with Pats
New England released Ricci on Monday.
Ricci didn't log any action last season after having been cut by the Browns at the end of training camp, but he resurfaced in the league via a futures contract with the Patriots early February. Now, the 28-year-old tight end will have to look elsewhere in the NFL for another chance at a depth role.

David Njoku TE | CLE
Browns' David Njoku: May lose routes to rookie?
Njoku will be joined in Cleveland's TE room by No. 67 overall pick Harold Fannin.
Fannin is a unique prospect, lacking ideal size (6-foot-3, 241 pounds) and speed (4.71 40) but still attracting plenty of NFL interest thanks to his FBS-leading 117 receptions at Bowling Green last season. Njoku is bigger, faster, stronger and a better blocker, but Fannin may ultimately push for some passing-down snaps in single-TE formations if he runs crisp routes and is quick to learn the offense. It's a comparable situation to the one in Baltimore with Isaiah Likely, who also put up huge numbers at a mediocre college program, and notably didn't have much impact on Mark Andrews' role until their third season playing together. Of course, Njoku isn't held in the same regard as Andrews, and the Browns may take more of an interest in developing young players during a likely rebuilding year than the Ravens did while trying to win a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, there hasn't been any update on the knee injury that held Njoku out for the final two games of last season. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as it might just mean he avoided surgery and completed his recovery without incident.

Tyler Higbee TE | LAR
Rams' Tyler Higbee: May be challenged by rookie
The Rams spent a second-round pick on TE Terrance Ferguson, who some scouts have compared to Higbee, per Tyler Greenawalt of Rams Wire.
The comparison makes sense if talking about Higbee as a draft prospect back in 2016, at which point he was carrying 249 pounds on a 6-foot-6 frame and mostly valued for pass-catching potential. It doesn't fit as well when discussing the current version of Higbee, listed at 255 pounds and valued for versatility. He's proven capable of taking on significant receiving workloads when needed, including during last season's playoffs, but it's never been something that coach Sean McVay prefers to do. With Ferguson competing for TE snaps and Davante Adams a probable upgrade on Cooper Kupp at wide receiver, Higbee appears unlikely to draw more than four or five targets per game, if that, in 2025. His bet shot at fantasy value would entail Adams or Puka Nacua missing time while Ferguson fails to earn a role.

Falcons' Joshua Simon: Links up with Falcons
Simon has agreed to a contract with the Falcons, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Simon joins the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina. The 6-foot-4, 239-pound tight end had 519 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. He'll compete for a depth role in camp behind Kyle Pitts.

Noah Fant TE | SEA
Seahawks' Noah Fant: Competition arrives via draft
Fant could face competition for the starting job after the Seahawks selected Elijah Arroyo (knee) in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
A 2019 first-round pick, Fant's career has never truly taken off, as his best marks for receiving were in 2020 when he posted a 62-673-3 line, and he has scored just one touchdown over the past two seasons with the Seahawks. Thus, it's not surprising that the Seahawks addressed tight end early in the draft after also taking AJ Barner in the fourth round last year. Arroyo may take some time to develop, but he looks like the Seahawks' long-term plan at the position.

Jalin Conyers: Slated to join Dolphins
Conyers is expected to sign with Miami as an undrafted free agent, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Conyers was productive during his lone season at Texas Tech, catching 30 passes for 320 yards and five touchdowns. He could have the chance compete for a backup tight end spot as the team currently lacks any proven talent behind Jonnu Smith.
-
CJ Dippre: Agrees to deal with Patriots
Dippre is slated to sign with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.
Dippre posted 757 yards and three touchdowns across three his final three college seasons between Maryland and Alabama. He's considered a strong run blocker while being a willing special-teams contributor. Dippre will lean on both of those traits as he aims to earn a roster spot through training camp.

Vikings' Benjamin Yurosek: Chooses Vikings as UDFA
Yurosek signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
Yurosek is a solid athlete out of Georgia, as he ran a 4.64 40-yard dash at 6-foot-4, 245 pounds. He features an 81-inch wingspan, too. The California native put together two solid seasons as a receiver at Stanford, but he never reached those levels again, especially in his fifth year when he caught just 15 passes for 185 yards and no scores at Georgia. His best path to a roster spot is as a run-blocking tight end.
-
Caden Prieskorn: Lined up to sign with Detroit
Prieskorn is slated to sign with the Lions as an undrafted free agent, Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com reports.
Prieskorn didn't hear his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft but does have a path toward a roster spot in Detroit should he end up signing there. He was a flex tight end during his two years as a starter at Ole Miss, accumulating 57 catches for 850 yards and seven touchdowns in 23 games. Prieskorn lacks the speed to separate from defenders in the passing game, but he makes up for it with his physicality, run-blocking ability and hand-eye coordination.

Luke Lachey TE | HOU
Texans' Luke Lachey: Nabbed by Texans in seventh round
The Texans selected Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 255th overall.
Lachey racked up 28 catches in two different seasons (2022 and 2024) at Iowa, adding 231 receiving yards last season. Sandwiched in the middle was a significant ankle injury in 2023 that cost him all but three games. He managed only 8.3 yards per reception in 2024 after averaging at least 13.1 yards per catch in each of the three years prior. Lachey doesn't possess elite speed to stretch the field but should be serviceable as a run blocker if called upon and will try to claim a 53-man roster spot in camp.
