The 15 strikeouts were one shy of the franchise record, and it was the most in a single game by a Giants pitcher since Tim Lincecum in 2009. In spite of the incredible performance, Snell was still denied his first win of the season, as he departed the game with a 1-0 lead before reliever Ryan Walker gave up the tying run to the Rockies in the top of the seventh inning. After a rough start to his tenure with the Giants, Snell has started to resemble the Cy Young Award-winning pitcher he was with the Padres in 2023. Over his four July starts, Snell has posted an 0.75 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB in 24 innings. He's the first Giants pitcher since 1911 to record at least 30 strikeouts while allowing fewer than 10 hits in a four-game stretch.
