Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Shelled in 2025 debut
Miller allowed six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over three innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday.
Miller was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday afternoon in order to make a spot start with the big club. He fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, but the Dodgers' offense responded with a seven-run bottom of the frame to seemingly take the pressure off the young right-hander. However, Miller gave back most of the lead in the third inning, surrendering five runs -- four of which came on a Michael Toglia grand slam -- in that frame. Overall, Miller needed 84 pitches to retire nine batters, and the only real positive from his start is that he racked up seven punchouts. Miller could be sent back down to the minors in short order with Los Angeles playing just five games over the next eight days. However, the team will likely need another spot starter for one game next week, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that Miller will get another chance in the near future.

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Sent back to Triple-A
The Dodgers optioned Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Miller's season debut Wednesday probably didn't play out the way he had hoped, as he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and a walk across three innings, though he did collect seven strikeouts. The 26-year-old's poor showing will earn him a ticket back to Oklahoma City, freeing up a roster spot for Evan Phillips (shoulder) to make his return from the injured list over the weekend.

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Recalled ahead of start
The Dodgers recalled Miller from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies.
Miller never quite got his feet underneath him in the majors last season, turning in an 8.52 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 56 innings in 13 outings. He's off to a much better start in the minors this year with three runs allowed through 12 frames, and he'll get another chance to prove he can stick with the big-league squad. Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Miller was rumored to be in consideration to draw a start with with big-league club in the near future, and his chance will come Wednesday. The right-hander has produced a 2.25 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 11 strikeouts over 12 innings in three appearances with Oklahoma City so far this season. Miller struggled to a 8.52 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 56 innings in 13 starts with the Dodgers in 2024.

Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Candidate for spot start
The Dodgers may consider calling up Miller to fill a void in the rotation next week, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
With Blake Snell (shoulder) landing on the injured list Sunday and both Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki on a once-per-week pitching schedule, Los Angeles is likely to need fill-in pitchers next Tuesday and Wednesday against Colorado at the tail end of a stretch of six games in six days. The team has recently given big-league starts to both Landon Knack and Justin Wrobleski, but they struggled mightily in their outings. The Dodgers could go back to one or both of those hurlers or go with a bullpen game, but Miller is also a possibility for a call-up. He's had success in the big leagues in the past, logging a 3.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 22 regular-season starts in 2023. The righty lost his rotation spot last year after struggling to an 8.52 ERA over 56 regular-season innings, and with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season he's allowed three earned runs with a 7:8 K:BB over 9.2 frames. After Wednesday, Los Angeles has just five games over the following eight days, so the team's need for spot starters will be less urgent. In the longer term, there may not be room for Miller in the Dodgers' rotation -- Snell is eyeing a short-term stay on the IL, Tony Gonsolin (back) may need just two or three more rehab starts before he's ready to be activated, and Shohei Ohtani (elbow) could begin pitching in games some time in May.

Miller (concussion) is listed as a projected starter for Triple-A Oklahoma City's third game of the season Sunday versus Sugar Land.
Miller was unable to make a push for a spot on the Dodgers' Opening Day roster after he took a comebacker to the head in his Cactus League debut Feb. 20, resulting in him being placed in concussion protocol. Though he didn't make any other appearances in spring training, Miller was cleared to resume throwing a few days after suffering the injury and was able to get stretched out through simulated games and minor-league games on the back fields of camp. Miller should make regular turns through the Oklahoma City rotation as he keeps himself ready for a potential starting opportunity with the Dodgers later on in the season.

Miller came into the game in the top of the third inning and walked the leadoff man. The second batter, Michael Busch, drilled an offering right back up the middle, which struck Miller in the head and caused him to fall to the ground. Miller was able to walk off the field under his own power but will likely undergo concussion tests.
