Twins' Walker Jenkins: Lands on IL due to ankle sprain
Jenkins was placed on Double-A Wichita's 7-day injured list Wednesday due to a left ankle sprain, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
It's the same injury that caused Jenkins to be sidelined during spring training. He appeared in two games for Wichita before aggravating the injury, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts in that span. It's unclear how long Jenkins will spend on the IL while rehabbing from his injury.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Healthy to begin Double-A season
Jenkins (ankle) has played in two of Double-A Wichita's first three games of the season, going 1-for-8 with two strikeouts.
Jenkins suffered a sprained ankle in spring training, but the injury wasn't significant enough for him to begin the season on Wichita's 7-day injured list. The fifth overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, Jenkins boasts a well-rounded skill set and could see his long-term outlook improve if he's able to tap into more game power while staying healthy in 2025.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Dealing with sprained ankle
Jenkins is roughly 1-to-2 weeks behind after suffering a mild ankle sprain last week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Jenkins was sidelined for roughly two months last season due to a hamstring injury, though his sprained ankle doesn't seem to be nearly as serious. He may have to miss a few games during spring training, though the Twins don't believe his availability for the start of the minor-league season will be affected.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Aims to stay healthy in 2025
Jenkins spent the offseason working on ways to stay healthy and strong after injuries prevented him from playing up to his standards in 2024, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
By most prospects' standards, Jenkins performed well while on the field, slashing .282/.394/.439 with six home runs, 17 steals and more walks than strikeouts in 82 games, but he mentioned at TwinsFest that he felt he season was below average, in part because of a hamstring injury. "Being injured somewhat hindered the way I like to play," Jenkins said. "I had to be able to manage my body, and I wasn't able to go what I felt like was full throttle all the time." Jenkins incorporated swimming into his regimen this offseason, while also doing his usual baseball and strength training. The Twins have plenty of outfielders ahead of Jenkins on the organizational depth chart, so he's not likely to reach the big leagues early in 2025, even if he has a strong showing in spring training. However, Jenkins is extremely well-rounded and he has a chance to finish the year as the game's No. 1 overall prospect if he can tap into more power in games while staying healthy in his age-20 season.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Moving up to Double-A
Jenkins was promoted to Double-A Wichita on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Jenkins will make the jump to the Double-A level after producing a .290 average with three home runs, 17 RBI, 21 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 131 at-bats in 34 games with High-A Cedar Rapids this season. The 19-year-old is considered to be the Twins' No. 1 overall prospect and he's climbing the ranks quickly.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Promoted to High-A
The Twins promoted Jenkins from Single-A Fort Myers to High-A Cedar Rapids on Monday.
Jenkins' 2024 debut lasted one plate appearance before a strained left hamstring cost him two months, but since returning to action for Fort Myers in early June, he's been outstanding. The 19-year-old delivered elite walk (18.7 percent) and strikeout (11.2 percent) rates and slashed .279/.408/.426 over 152 plate appearances at Single-A to earn the promotion.

Twins' Walker Jenkins: Returns from hamstring injury
Jenkins (hamstring) was activated from the 7-day IL and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's win for Single-A Fort Myers. He batted second and played center field.
Jenkins made just one plate appearance for Single-A Fort Myers before straining his left hamstring and landing on the 7-day injured list on April 9. He hit .393 (11-for-28) with a 1.085 OPS during nine rehab games for the Twins' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. As one the top prospects in baseball heading into the season, Jenkins was thought to be in store for a brief pit stop at Fort Myers to begin the season before heading to High-A Cedar Rapids, but the injury could slow his ascent through the Twins' farm system.
