Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Bounces back to close out win
Halvorsen walked one and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning Thursday against the Brewers.
Halvorsen entered the game with a five-run lead in the ninth inning, so it wasn't a save situation. However, it was still an important outing after he surrendered six runs (three earned) while recording just one out in Wednesday's game. Halvorsen should be in line for at least a share of Colorado's saves moving forward.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Crushed in blowout loss
Halvorsen allowed six runs (three earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out one over one-third of an inning in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.
Halvorsen entered the game to start the ninth inning with the Rockies down by eight runs, likely just to get work because he hadn't appeared in a game since Friday. It was a disastrous outing all around, as he walked the first two batters he faced, then was charged with an error that allowed two runs to score before serving up a homer to the next batter he faced. Halvorsen and Victor Vodnik each have one save this season, and they appear set to share the closer role for the time being.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Earns first save
Halvorsen was perfect Saturday, striking out one without allowing a baserunner to secure a four-out save against the Rays.
Halvorsen averaged 99 mph on both his fastball and sinker, needing just 14 pitches to secure the Rockies' first save opportunity of the season. The 25-year-old impressed late in 2024 with a 1.46 ERA in 12.1 innings and made a strong case for more save chances with his sharp 2025 debut.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Implodes against Reds
Halvorsen allowed five earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one across two-thirds of an inning in Monday's Cactus League game against the Reds.
Halvorsen entered the game in the eighth inning and was tasked with protecting a one-run lead. He served up a leadoff homer and proceeded to allow two walks and two extra-base hits. Halvorsen is in the mix for saves and had previously allowed only one earned run across five innings while maintaining a 4:2 K:BB, and it's unclear how this poor outing may affect his role to begin the regular season.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: In mix for saves
Halvorsen is among the candidates to open the season as the Rockies' closer, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Halvorsen made his big-league debut in 2024 after striking out 56 batters across 44.1 innings combined between Double and Triple-A. He converted two saves and two holds across 12 appearances with the Rockies, while also maintaining an impressive 13:2 K:BB. Tyler Kinley could get the first save chances due to his veteran status, but his inconsistent track record should keep the door open for Halvorsen and/or others.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Nabs another save
Halvorsen picked up the save Thursday against the Cardinals, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout across a scoreless ninth inning.
Halvorsen picked up his second save of the campaign and appears to have a lock on the Rockies' closing job in the wake of Tyler Kinley's elbow injury. Halvorsen has been excellent since being called up Aug. 30, logging a 1.69 ERA with a 10:2 K:BB across 10.2 innings.

Rockies' Seth Halvorsen: Picks up first save
Halvorsen picked up the save over the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks in a scoreless ninth inning.
Halvorsen entered the contest with a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and allowed two of the first three batters to reach before getting Teoscar Hernandez to fly out for the second out. The rookie right-hander then issued a walk to Tommy Edman to load the bases but managed to escape the jam by recording a strikeout for the final out. It marked the first save of Halvorsen's major-league career, as well as the first time in nine appearances this season that he's allowed any walks. He's also yet to allow an earned run on the campaign.
