Mavericks' Brandon Williams: Back in starting lineup
Williams is in the Mavericks' starting lineup against the Jazz on Thursday.
Williams will make his 10th start of the season Thursday (and first since Nov. 24 against the Heat) due to the absences of Cooper Flagg (ankle) and Max Christie (illness). Williams is coming off his fifth 20-point-plus performance of the season Wednesday against the Nuggets, and over his last seven outings he has averaged 16.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals over 24.1 minutes per game.

Mavericks' Caleb Martin: Starting Thursday
Martin is in the starting lineup for Thursday's matchup with the Jazz.
Joining Martin in the first unit for Thursday's game will be Jaden Hardy, Brandon Williams, Naji Marshall and Dwight Powell. Martin is capable of chipping in a little bit of everything when given the minutes, so he's on the radar as a potential streaming option in deep leagues.

Mavericks' Dwight Powell: Drawing spot start Thursday
Powell is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Jazz.
Powell will be asked to join the starting five with the Mavs missing a good chunk of the starting frontcourt Thursday. He'll presumably tackle a heavier workload than usual with both Daniel Gafford (ankle) and P.J. Washington (ankle) out.

Mavericks' Max Christie: Out Thursday
Christie (illness) won't play in Thursday's game against the Jazz.
Christie has been downgraded to out due to an illness, marking his second straight absence. The Mavs will be short handed Thursday without Christie and Cooper Flagg (ankle), which will likely open up more minutes for Ryan Nembhard, Brandon Williams and Jaden Hardy.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Won't play Thursday
Gafford (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Jazz.
Gafford will hit the sidelines for the second leg of a back-to-back, and for now, he should be considered questionable for Saturday's rematch with Utah. Dwight Powell will have the opportunity to start with Gafford unavailable and Moussa Cisse could see an uptick in minutes.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Downgraded to out
Washington is out for Thursday's game against the Jazz due to right ankle injury management.
Given that Thursday is the second leg of Dallas' back-to-back set, the expectation is that Washington will be available for Saturday's meeting with Utah. Klay Thompson is a candidate to start for the undermanned Mavericks on Thursday, putting him in the streaming mix in most fantasy leagues.

Mavericks' Cooper Flagg: Won't go Thursday
Flagg (ankle) is out for Thursday's game against the Jazz.
Flagg has officially been ruled out for Thursday's clash due to a left ankle sprain. This will be his first absence since Nov. 19 and just his second of his rookie season. Flagg's next chance to return will arrive Saturday, also against Utah.

Mavericks' Jeremiah Robinson-Earl: Signs with Dallas
Robinson-Earl signed a 10-day contract with Dallas on Thursday, Christian Clark of The Athletic reports.
With so many injuries on the roster, the Mavericks were granted a hardship exception. Robinson-Earl offers plenty of NBA experience and had some good moments for Indiana earlier this season. He'll be available to provide depth Thursday against Utah.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Questionable with ankle sprain
Gafford is questionable for Thursday's game against the Jazz due to a sprained right ankle.
After leaving Wednesday's loss to Denver, Gafford is in danger of missing the second part of Dallas' back-to-back set. The center minutes would likely be divvied up between Dwight Powell and Moussa Cisse if Gafford is unable to suit up Thursday.

Mavericks' Max Christie: Doubtful with illness
Christie (illness) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Jazz.
An illness is likely to keep Christie from playing both halves of Dallas' back-to-back set. With the sharpshooter unlikely to be available for a second straight contest, Jaden Hardy and Brandon Williams have a much clearer pathway to minutes in the Mavericks' backcourt.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Listed as questionable
Washington is questionable for Thursday's game against the Jazz due to right ankle injury management.
The Mavericks are considering holding Washington out of action for maintenance reasons. With Cooper Flagg (ankle) not expected to be available, Klay Thompson could see enough playing time to warrant streaming consideration in shallow leagues, and Caleb Martin is an option in deep formats.

Mavericks' Cooper Flagg: Doubtful for Thursday
Flagg (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday's game against Utah.
This is hardly a surprise after the rookie left Wednesday's game early with a noticeable limp. All signs point to the Mavericks being cautious. In the meantime, it's likely that Caleb Martin, Brandon Williams and Klay Thompson will step into larger roles Thursday, and possibly Ryan Nembhard.

Mavericks' P.J. Washington: Poor efficiency in return
Washington (ankle) tallied 12 points (4-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-7 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 31 minutes Wednesday in the Mavericks' 118-109 loss to the Nuggets.
Washington didn't operate with a strict minutes limit in his return from a four-game absence due to a right ankle sprain, but the veteran forward struggled to get his shots to fall both from the field and the free-throw line Wednesday, resulting in a disappointing line. With star rookie Cooper Flagg (ankle) exiting the game early and perhaps in danger of missing time, Washington could be needed to handle an elevated role on the offensive end in Thursday's contest against the Jazz. However, since Washington just returned from an injury of his own, the Mavericks may opt to have him sit out the second leg of the back-to-back set for maintenance purposes.

Mavericks' Brandon Williams: Puts up 20 points in loss
Williams (illness) chipped in 20 points (6-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 8-12 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 25 minutes in Wednesday's 118-109 loss to the Nuggets.
Making his return from a two-game absence, Williams provided the Mavericks with a lift off the bench, reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time in 35 appearances on the season. With Cooper Flagg (ankle) leaving the game after playing just 15 minutes, Williams could be in line for elevated usage and minutes once again if Flagg is unable to play Thursday against Utah in the second leg of a back-to-back set. Williams is averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 21.7 minutes over his last five appearances.

Mavericks' Naji Marshall: Pours in 24 points
Marshall posted 24 points (9-16 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 6-8 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 118-109 loss to the Nuggets.
With 24 points on the night, Marshall posted his third-highest scoring total of the campaign. Both Daniel Gafford (ankle) and Cooper Flagg (ankle) left this game early with injuries, meaning Marshall may have more touches coming his way. Over his last seven games, he's averaging 15.9 points, 3.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per contest.

Mavericks' Caleb Martin: Fares well in loss
Martin closed Wednesday's 118-109 loss to the Nuggets with 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and three steals in 23 minutes.
The Mavericks are very thin these days due to injuries, and on Wednesday, both Daniel Gafford (ankle) and Cooper Flagg (ankle) left the game early. Martin hasn't been very involved this season, but he's a proven veteran and could get another chance to step up Thursday against the Jazz if the team is shorthanded once again.

Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Won't return Wednesday
Gafford has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's game against Denver due to a right ankle sprain.
Gafford missed Dallas' most recent game due to the same injury, and he seemingly aggravated the issue Wednesday. He logged six points (2-2 FG, 2-4 FT) and 10 rebounds across 18 minutes before exiting. Gafford's absence will likely mean more opportunities for Dwight Powell. Gafford's next chance to play will come Thursday against Utah.

Mavericks' Cooper Flagg: Won't return with ankle injury
Flagg (ankle) will not return to Wednesday's game against the Nuggets, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Flagg exited at the 6:01 mark of the second quarter, briefly returned before halftime, but has now been ruled out for the second half due to a left ankle sprain. An ankle issue also sidelined the rookie briefly Monday, though he was able to return and finish that game, unlike Wednesday. With Flagg done for the night, Klay Thompson, Ryan Nembhard and Caleb Martin could see expanded roles down the stretch.
