The Rams waived Carter on Friday.
Cater was signed to a reserve/future deal in January but has been let go ahead of the new league year, which begins March 15. He joined the league as an undrafted free agent in May of 2022 and made his NFL debut with the Rams in Week 11, playing primarily on special teams.

Rams' Roger Carter: Inks futures deal
The Rams signed Carter to a reserve/future contract Monday, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.
Carter signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in May of 2022, and after failing to make the initial 53-man roster, he signed with Los Angeles' practice squad. The Georgia State product made his NFL debut in Week 11, but he played primarily on special teams and didn't record any counting stats. With his new deal, the 6-foot-2 tight end will have a chance to compete for a roster spot throughout the offseason and into next year's training camp.

Roger Carter: Back to practice squad
Carter reverted to the Rams' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Carter made his NFL debut in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. After signing with the team as a UDFA and failing to make the active roster, Carter has been working on the practice squad and finally received an opportunity to play Sunday. However, Carter saw just one snap on offense and 10 on special teams, failing to record any stats. He'll work to earn another opportunity with the 53-man roster.

Rams' Roger Carter: Elevated for first time
Carter was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster by the Rams on Saturday.
After signing with Los Angeles' practice squad Sept. 1, Carter will get the first elevation of his NFL career ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Chiefs. The 23-year-old caught 20 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns as a senior at Georgia State last season but went unselected in the draft last April. Tyler Higbee (knee) is questionable for Week 12, and if he's unable to play, Carter would likely slot in as the Rams' No. 2 tight end behind Brycen Hopkins.

Carter caught two passes for 12 yards during Los Angeles' final two preseason games, but he couldn't earn a spot on the initial 53-man roster. Instead, the undrafted rookie out of Georgia State will stick with the team as a member of the practice squad.
