Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Career-best 8.0 sacks in 2024
Luvu totaled 99 tackles (54 solo), including 8.0 sacks, across 17 regular-season games with the Commanders in 2024. He also had seven passes defensed, including one interception, plus one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
Luvu impressed as a pass rusher in his inaugural campaign with Washington, playing a key every-down role (and a career-high 1,005 snaps on defense) in the Commanders' scheme. The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his deal with the team and is a strong candidate to retain solid IDP value for the 2025 campaign.

Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Good to go for Sunday
Luvu (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday but does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Eagles.
Luvu practiced in full Wednesday but has since logged back-to-back limited practice sessions, likely merely due to load management. The starting linebacker sustained a shoulder injury during Washington's regular-season finale against Dallas, but he's since played 100 and 91 percent of defensive snaps in each of the Commanders' postseason contests.

Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Limited in Thursday's practice
Luvu (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Luvu injured his shoulder during the Commanders' regular-season finale against the Cowboys, but that hasn't limited him in Washington's first two playoff games. His injury designation Thursday is likely out of precaution and to lower the risk of aggravating the injury heading into Sunday's NFC Championship Game against Philadelphia. Luvu has registered 13 tackles (eight solo) and one fumble recovery through the Commanders' two playoff games.

Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Cleared to play Sunday
Luvu (shoulder) was limited in practice Friday but does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's road NFC wild-card round game against the Buccaneers.
Luvu practiced on an FP/LP/LP basis leading up to wild-card round action, but his shoulder issue won't impact his availability Sunday versus Tampa Bay. The veteran linebacker was nearly an every-down player on defense across 17 regular-season appearances for Washington, across which span he racked up 99 tackles (54 solo), including a career-high 8.0 sacks.

Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Still nursing shoulder injury
Luvu (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Luvu injured his shoulder during the Commanders' Week 18 win over the Cowboys. He started the week as a full practice participant Wednesday, so his limited action Thursday could be to mitigate the risk of aggravating the injury. Unless Luvu suffers a setback over the next few days, he should be at full strength for Sunday's wild-card round game against the Buccaneers. Luvu played in all 17 regular-season games and posted 99 tackles (54 solo), including a career-best 8.0 sacks, seven pass defenses (including one interception), two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.
