Lions' Sam LaPorta: Sits out practice Wednesday
Lions head coach Dan Campbell said LaPorta (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
LaPorta exited this past Sunday's 26-23 win at Houston due a shoulder injury that eventually was termed an AC joint sprain. On Monday, Campbell called LaPorta day-to-day, and the coach used the same term to describe the tight end Wednesday. LaPorta will have two more chances this week to put himself in a position to be available Sunday against the Jaguars.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Day-to-day, per coach
Head coach Dan Campbell relayed Monday that LaPorta is viewed as day-to day-with the shoulder injury he sustained during Week 10 action, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
With that in mind, Campbell indicated that he's "hopeful" LaPorta can play Sunday against the Jaguars. The tight end's status thus is worth monitoring carefully in the coming days, but if LaPorta is limited or out this weekend, Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra would be in line to see added opportunities Week 11.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Dealing with sprained AC joint
LaPorta (shoulder) suffered a sprained AC joint in Sunday night's 26-23 win over the Texans, Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News reports.
LaPorta sustained the injury in the second half, bringing his night to a premature end. The tight end had three catches for 66 yards and a score prior to leaving the game, notching his third touchdown over the last five games. Head coach Dan Campbell said following the contest that LaPorta's injury is "not something he's super worried about," but he also added that the tight end "might miss this week." The Lions will host the Jaguars on Nov. 17, and LaPorta's status at practice will be worth monitoring ahead of the contest.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Questionable to return Sunday night
LaPorta (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday night's game against the Texans.
The tight end caught three passes for 66 yards and a touchdown before exiting. LaPorta has 25 catches for 366 yards and three scores on the year. Brock Wright is Detroit's next man up at tight end.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Limited by game script
LaPorta recorded two receptions on three targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 24-14 win over the Packers.
LaPorta finished tied for second on the team with three targets, but the Lions played from ahead and leaned on their run game with rain consistently falling. He managed a 19-yard reception on Detroit's first offensive possession, though he made very little impact thereafter. LaPorta now has two or fewer receptions in five of his eight games while being held under 30 yards on three occasions.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Soaks up six targets
LaPorta recorded six receptions on six targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 52-14 win over the Titans.
LaPorta recorded a total of two receptions on three targets combined across his last two games, so any increase in involvement would have been positive. Sunday's performance was even better than it first appears, however, because Jared Goff attempted only 15 total passes due to game script. LaPorta also managed his second touchdown in his last three contests on a pass delivered by running back David Montgomery from three yards away on a trick play. LaPorta could be in for another solid performance in Week 9 against Green Bay due to Jameson Williams (suspension) being sidelined once again.

Lions' Sam LaPorta: Second straight one-catch tally
LaPorta secured one of two targets for 25 yards in the Lions' 31-29 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
For the second consecutive week, LaPorta was limited to a sole catch, although it was once again a 20-plus yard grab. Nevertheless, the fact the talented tight end has drawn just three targets on 50 Jared Goff dropbacks over the last two games is concerning from a fantasy standpoint, irrespective of the second-year pro's recent knack for chunk plays. More useful volume could also be hard to come by in a Week 8 home matchup against a Titans defense that's been notoriously stingy against tight ends this season despite the team's poor record.
