Sabres' Sam Lafferty: Deemed week-to-week
Lafferty (lower body) didn't practice Monday and is week-to-week, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Lafferty sat out Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Islanders after being injured in Friday's 4-3 overtime defeat versus Vancouver. He has earned one goal, 13 shots on net and 27 hits through 22 appearances this season. During Lafferty's absence, Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Tyson Kozak could see playing time in the bottom six.

Sabres' Nicolas Aube-Kubel: Draws in, can't contribute in loss
Aube-Kubel returned to the lineup Saturday in a 3-0 loss to the Islanders, but he recorded just three shots on goal and three hits over 11:23 of ice time.
Aube-Kubel filled in for Sam Lafferty (lower body) in this contest. Given the Sabres produced no goals, lineup changes could be coming for Tuesday versus the Avalanche. Aube-Kubel played in just six of 14 contests in November and remains in search of his first point -- he's been held scoreless with seven shots on net, 11 hits and six PIM over eight appearances so far. When he plays, he's typically stuck in a fourth-line role.

Sabres' James Reimer: Third loss of season
Reimer stopped 17 of 19 shots in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Islanders. The third goal was an empty-netter with eight seconds left in the third period.
Reimer started in the second leg of a back-to-back set, but he didn't perform at his best and had to settle for another defeat. He sits at 1-3-0 in four appearances this season. However, it's worth noting Reimer has posted a save percentage of at least .890 in three of four appearances. Still, Reimer will serve as Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's backup, which limits his upside considerably.

Sabres' Connor Clifton: Chips in with assist
Clifton logged an assist, four hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Clifton snapped an eight-game point drought with the helper. He's seen steady minutes on the third pairing this season, though his spot could be challenged once Mattias Samuelsson (lower body) is activated from injured reserve. Clifton has four helpers, 19 shots on net, 19 PIM, 65 hits and 37 blocked shots over 22 contests, so his appeal in fantasy is limited to formats with an emphasis on non-scoring production.

Sabres' Bowen Byram: Scores in overtime loss
Byram scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Byram has bounced back from a three-game slump, collecting a goal and two helpers over his last three outings. The 23-year-old defenseman hasn't gotten a large share of power-play time, but he's playing big minutes overall, averaging 22:36 per game over 23 contests. He's posted 14 points, 26 shots on net, 20 hits, 22 blocked shots and a plus-8 rating through 23 games this season.

Sabres' Zach Benson: Two apples in loss
Benson posted two assists in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Benson earned a helper on Bowen Byram's first-period marker before adding an assist on Alex Tuch's game-tying goal in the final frame. The 19-year-old Benson didn't have a point in five games, dating back to Nov. 14, before earning his second multi-point effort of 2024-25. The left-shot forward will need more time and experience before being counted on to produce consistent offense. Benson has logged three goals, three assists and a plus-1 rating through 17 contests.

Sabres' Alex Tuch: Scores in defeat
Tuch scored a goal on three shots and went plus-2 in 21:37 of ice time in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Tuch had his six-game point streak snapped against Minnesota on Wednesday, but he helped Buffalo earn a point Friday by tying the game at 3-3 in the third period. The right-shot winger scored for the third time in four games, and through 13 games in November, Tuch has found the scoresheet on 10 occasions. The Syracuse native is leading the Sabres in scoring with eight goals, 14 assists and a team-best plus-12 rating over 23 contests.

Sabres' Dylan Cozens: Two points Friday
Cozens produced a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Vancouver.
Cozens helped his club earn a point Friday -- he cut Vancouver's lead to 3-2 before registering the primary assist on Alex Tuch's game-tying goal at 14:57 of the third period. That point for Buffalo could be crucial down the line for a team that is battling to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season. Cozens has the ability to be an important player for the Sabres -- he accounted for 31 goals and 68 points across 81 regular-season games in 2022-23, but followed that up with 18 goals and 47 points over 79 regular-season contests in 2023-24. Cozens has notched five goals and five assists through 23 games.

Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Unable to withstand Vancouver
Luukkonen conceded four goals on 22 shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Luukkonen allowed more than two goals in a game for just the second time across nine appearances in November. The 25-year-old has provided stability between the pipes for the league's youngest roster in the Sabres, but he'll get a night off in the second half of a back-to-back Saturday -- James Reimer will start on the road against the Islanders. Luukkonen has an 8-5-2 record, .909 save percentage and 2.54 GAA over 16 appearances.

Sabres' Tyson Kozak: Earning first call-up
Kozak will be called up from AHL Rochester ahead of Saturday's game versus the Islanders, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News
Kozak is in line for his first call-up, though it's unclear if he'll make his NHL debut. The 21-year-old was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He has produced six points over 14 contests with Rochester this season.

Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Starts skating
Samuelsson (lower body) resumed skating Friday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Samuelsson has been out on a week-to-week basis and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 13. It's unclear when he'll be cleared to play, and he's not necessarily guaranteed a spot in the Sabres' lineup once he returns, as he was scratched for three games before suffering his injury Nov. 11.

Sabres' Sam Lafferty: Unlikely for Saturday
Lafferty (lower body) is not expected to be available Saturday versus the Islanders, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Lafferty sustained the injury Friday versus the Canucks, and it appears it will cost him time. Nicolas Aube-Kubel will likely replace Lafferty in the lineup as a fourth-line option.

Lafferty sustained a lower-body injury during Friday's tilt versus Vancouver and won't return.
Lafferty entered Friday's action with one point (a goal), 14 PIM and 26 hits in 21 appearances with the Sabres in 2024-25. He logged 4:02 of ice time before exiting the game against the Canucks.
