Hurricanes' Mikko Rantanen: Unavailable Saturday
Rantanen (lower body) won't play against Utah on Saturday.
Rantanen sustained the injury from blocking a shot in Thursday's 2-1 loss to Minnesota. He has generated one goal, one assist and 21 shots on net in six games with the Hurricanes after being acquired from Colorado on Jan. 24. Due to Rantanen's absence, Carolina will dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen in Saturday's lineup, with Scott Morrow drawing back in after being a healthy scratch in Thursday's defeat.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Tending twine Saturday
Kochetkov will defend the home crease against Utah on Saturday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Kochetkov will draw the start in the Hurricanes' final game before the 4 Nations Face-Off as he continues to split time in the net with Frederik Andersen. Across Kochetkov's last six appearances, he's gone 3-1-2 with a 2.32 GAA and .907 save percentage.

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Records helper in loss
Jarvis posted an assist in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Wild.
The helper was Jarvis' first point over three games in February after he racked up 11 goals and four assists over 15 contests in January. The Hurricanes are still toying with their lines -- Jackson Blake got the first chance on the top line with Sebastian Aho and Mikko Rantanen following the team's blockbuster trade with Colorado, but Jarvis was in that spot Thursday. Jarvis has played pretty well this season, earning 20 goals, 21 assists, 124 shots on net, 72 hits and a plus-1 rating over 48 appearances.

Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Lends helper in loss
Svechnikov notched an assist and four shots on goal in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Wild.
Svechnikov missed a game Saturday versus the Kings but has been able to handle middle-six minutes over the last two contests. The 24-year-old winger has five points over his last six outings and a total of 17 goals, 38 points, 151 shots on net, 106 hits, 38 PIM and a minus-5 rating across 54 appearances this season. Svechnikov is on track to return to the 20-goal mark after missing it in 2023-24, and he should also be able to top 50 points for the fourth straight year.

Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Lights the lamp Thursday
Aho scored a goal and added three shots on net in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Wild.
Aho's tally arrived with less than three minutes in regulation to help the Hurricanes avoid a shutout. Thursday's game raised the Finnish forward's season totals to 18 goals, 52 points, and 143 shots on net across 54 appearances this season. Aho's tally in the third period was his first point since missing Carolina's contest Jan. 30 with an illness. Centering the top line alongside Mikko Rantanen and Seth Jarvis, the 27-year-old is in a good place to continue producing points once the new line combination develops more chemistry. Aho is off the pace to best his career-high of 89 points from a year ago but should challenge for 70-80 points this season.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Falls to Wild
Andersen gave up just two goals on 24 shots but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Minnesota on Thursday.
Andersen put together one of his best performances of the season in Thursday's contest but was let down by a lack of offensive support. With the Hurricanes rotating netminders since Andersen's return from a long-term knee injury, it will likely be Pyotr Kochetkov between the pipes at home versus Utah on Saturday, which means Andersen is unlikely to play again until after the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Hurricanes' Juha Jaaska: Ready to return
Jaaska (illness) is good to play Thursday versus Minnesota, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Jaaska missed Tuesday's 3-0 loss to Winnipeg because of the illness. He has three assists in 15 outings in 2024-25. Scott Morrow is projected to be a healthy scratch due to Jaaska's return.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting in Minnesota
Andersen will protect the road goal versus the Wild on Thursday.
Andersen will take his turn in the goalie rotation. He has gone 3-1-0 over his last four outings, though he has allowed at least three goals in three of those games. The Wild are without Kirill Kaprizov (lower body) and have been shut out in their last two games, making this a somewhat favorable matchup.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Support lacking Tuesday
Kochetkov allowed three goals on 30 shots (.900 save percentage) in a 3-0 loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday.
Kochetkov was far from perfect but certainly could have used some goal support to keep this one close. The loss saw the 25-year-old netminder's streak of six games without a regulation defeat come to an end. Since Frederik Andersen's return from a long-term knee injury, the duo has been splitting the workload, which means Kochetkov will likely get the nod versus Utah at home Saturday.

Hurricanes' Juha Jaaska: Not playing Tuesday
Jaaska (illness) won't play against Winnipeg on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Jaaska returned to the ice in Tuesday's morning skate after skipping Monday's practice, but he may not be well enough to play. Carolina will dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards, with Scott Morrow replacing Jaaska in the lineup.

Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Suiting up in Winnipeg
Svechnikov (upper body) is slated to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Jets, Peter Dewar of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Svechnikov missed his first game of the season Saturday against the Kings. The left-shot winger should resume his spot on the second line in addition to receiving power-play time in Tuesday's road game. The 24-year-old has supplied 17 goals and 37 points across 52 appearances this campaign.

The 25-year-old has a 19-9-3 record, .903 save percentage and 2.47 GAA through 32 appearances this campaign. He'll have a tough assignment against a Winnipeg club that ranks first in the NHL with 3.61 goals per game.
