Hurricanes' Dustin Tokarski: Inks two-way deal
Tokarski signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Monday. He was placed on waivers to be returned to AHL Chicago, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Tokarski has a 4-1-0 record with a 1.61 GAA and a .933 save percentage in five appearances with Carolina's top minor-league affiliate this season. The 35-year-old Tokarski will provide the Hurricanes with veteran depth between the pipes. Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) may play in Tuesday's home game versus Seattle, but Frederik Andersen (knee) isn't close to being available.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Returns to practice
Kochetkov (concussion) returned to practice Monday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kochetkov sustained a concussion against the Blue Jackets in overtime during a Nov. 23 matchup, and he's been sidelined since then. However, he appears to have cleared the league's concussion protocol and should be close to returning to game action. The Hurricanes will likely wait to see how he feels ahead of Tuesday's home game against the Kraken before determining his status, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him dress for that matchup, especially after Yaniv Perets was sent down Monday. Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said after Monday's practice session that Kochetkov is a possibility for Tuesday, but he has one more test to pass before he's given the green light, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Recalled by Carolina
Stillman was recalled by the Hurricanes on Monday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Stillman was sent to the AHL on Wednesday, but he'll rejoin the Hurricanes on Monday after Yaniv Perets was sent down. Stillman hasn't yet appeared in an NHL game this year and will likely serve mainly as a depth option after being called up.

Hurricanes' Yaniv Perets: Returned to AHL
Perets was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Monday.
Perets made a relief appearance against Florida on Saturday, surrendering one goal on seven shots in a 6-0 loss. Due to injuries to Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) and Frederik Andersen (knee), Perets occupied the backup role behind Spencer Martin. However, Kochetkov returned to practice Monday and could be ready to play in Tuesday's home game versus Seattle.

Hurricanes' Yaniv Perets: Appears in relief
Perets stopped six of seven shots in relief in the third period of a 6-0 loss to Florida on Saturday.
Perets was 1-2-0 with a 3.67 GAA and .825 save percentage with the AHL Chicago Wolves before his recent call-up to the Canes. The young netminder was thrown to the big cats Saturday -- the Panthers had put up five on Spencer Martin in the first two periods, and his Canes teammates didn't really show up at all during the game. Perets isn't a viable fantasy option right now, and his NHL future is likely limited to a backup role ... if he ever makes it.

Hurricanes' Spencer Martin: Chased from net after two periods
Martin allowed five goals on 28 shots in two periods of action Saturday in a 6-0 loss to Florida. Yaniv Perets surrendered one goal on seven shots in relief.
Carolina didn't show up Saturday, and Martin has been struggling. He has surrendered 10 goals in his last two outings, both of which were losses against the Panthers. At this point, Martin is a challenging goaltender to trust, and the Hurricanes may need to search for a veteran option to help between the pipes if injuries to Frederik Andersen (knee) and Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) continue to linger.

Hurricanes' Spencer Martin: Going back-to-back
Martin will protect the road goal versus Florida on Saturday, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Martin will play both ends of a back-to-back series with the Panthers after allowing five goals on 29 shots in Friday's 6-3 loss. He has a 3-3-1 record with a 3.62 GAA and an .850 save percentage this season. Yaniv Perets will be Martin's backup because Frederik Andersen (knee) and Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) are unavailable due to injuries.

Hurricanes' Ty Smith: Back in AHL
Smith was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Smith was recalled Friday, but he was a healthy scratch in a 6-3 loss to Florida. Smith has yet to see any action at the NHL level this season. He has three assists in four outings with AHL Chicago in 2024-25.

Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Nabs assist in loss
Chatfield posted an assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers.
Chatfield is humming along with four points over his last six games. He doesn't see more than traces of power-play time, but he's been impressive in a second-pairing role so far in 2024-25. Chatfield is at eight points, 31 shots on net, 22 blocked shots, 15 hits, 10 PIM and a plus-17 rating through 23 appearances. His defense stands out the most, but Chatfield is on pace to surpass his 22-point regular season from 2023-24, largely due to an increase of over three extra minutes of ice time per game.

Hurricanes' Eric Robinson: Nets equalizer Friday
Robinson scored a goal in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers.
Robinson tied the game at 3-3 late in the second period, but the Panthers took control in the third. His tally was his first since Nov. 17, though he had two assists in four outings going into Friday's matchup. The 29-year-old has lost his place on the second combination, but a fourth-line spot aligns better with his skill set. Robinson is up to six goals, 15 points, 25 shots on net, 31 hits and a plus-8 rating through 23 appearances. He may generate enough offense to interest fantasy managers in deep formats.

Hurricanes' Sean Walker: Snaps eight-game point drought
Walker scored his second goal of the season Friday in a 6-3 loss to the Panthers.
Walker registered his 100th career point when he beat Sergei Bobrovsky with a wrist shot from the blue line at 6:24 of the second period. Walker was mired in an eight-game scoring drought before he got on the board Friday, and it was his first goal since Oct. 31. The 30-year-old skates on the third defensive pairing and receives very little power-play time, so his role has kept his offensive output limited. The right-shot defenseman has chipped in two goals and two assists through 23 games.

Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Facilitates two helpers Friday
Gostisbehere nabbed two assists in Friday's 6-3 loss to Florida.
Gostisbehere produced one assist on the power play and one at even strength to extend his point streak to three games (one goal, four assists). The left-shot blueliner quarterbacks Carolina's No. 1 power-play unit, which ranks seventh in the NHL, and he's collected 13 of his 19 points on the man advantage. Gostisbehere is leading the pack among Carolina's defensemen in scoring with five goals and 14 assists through 23 contests

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Scores again Friday
Jarvis buried his seventh goal of the season on the power play Friday in a 6-3 loss to the Panthers.
Jarvis tallied his third power-play marker of the season in the first period of Friday's defeat. The right-shot winger extended his point streak to four games, and he's generated three goals and four assists during that span. The 22-year-old is producing at a point-per-game pace through 16 appearances, and overall, Jarvis has collected seven goals and nine assists while averaging 18:49 of ice time per game.

Hurricanes' Spencer Martin: Blitzed by Florida in defeat
Martin conceded five goals on 29 shots in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers. The sixth marker was an empty-netter.
Martin was attempting to win his third straight game Friday, but Florida struck for three third-period goals to defeat Carolina on home ice. The Ontario native is Carolina's de facto No. 1 netminder at the moment, as Frederik Andersen (knee) and Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) are working their way back to full health. Martin is 3-3-1 with an .850 save percentage and a 3.62 GAA through eight appearances.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Doubtful for Saturday
Kochetkov (concussion) is considered doubtful to play Saturday versus the Panthers, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said he'd like Kochetkov to get a practice in before returning. Brind'Amour did not declare a starter for Saturday -- his options are Spencer Martin, who took a 6-3 loss Friday versus the Panthers, or Yaniv Perets if Kochetkov doesn't play.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Might be available for Saturday
Kochetkov (concussion) isn't expected to play Friday, but he's feeling good and might return for Saturday's road game against the Panthers, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Kochetkov has a 10-2-0 record, 2.43 GAA and .904 save percentage in 13 outings in 2024-25. Spencer Martin is set to start Friday while Yaniv Perets is expected to serve as the understudy. When Kochetkov is healthy, he will likely act as the Hurricanes' No. 1 goaltender, which will push Martin into the backup role and probably result in Perets heading back to AHL Chicago.
